1) How do I Login to my account? Go to http://www.webation.com and click the green Login button on the top right.
2) Do I have to use the Logout button, or can I just close the webpage? You must use the Logout button when you have finished using Webation Active, or you may not be able to log back in next time. 3) Why don’t I need to download any special software to use Webation Active? Webation Active is an online application, which means that all you need to use it is an internet connection.
4) How can I access support if I get stuck? You can post questions in the “Support” area of your Webation Active account. To do this select the “Admin” tab (top right of screen), then in the “Support” icon group, click “New Question”. This makes it easier to find and reply to your questions and to make the process faster for you.
5) How do I set up email accounts? Firstly, you need to have a domain name attached to your account to create email accounts. Then click on the Webmail "Pro" link at the top of the Webation website (www.webation.com). This will take you to the webmail login screen where you will enter the "postmaster" login details given to you by us. If you have not recieved these details please contact us.
Once you have logged into the postmaster account, click the "Settings" button across the top and then click "Email Account Management" on the left hand menu. From here you can begin adding email accounts. For further information, see the Manage Email Accounts support page. 6) I don’t understand why the toolbar changes back after I select another tab? This happens so that what you are seeing in the main area of the window (below the toolbar) corresponds to the correct tab and section in the toolbar. When you select a new tab, you must then make a selection from one of the icon Groups below, without letting your mouse go below the toolbar until you have made a selection. For example, say you were in the Page Editor tab, but then you wanted to view the Site Structure. You would click the Page Manager tab, and without the mouse dipping below the Icon Button Bar, select the Site Structure button.
7) Do I need any specific software or hardware to run Webation Active? Not really, but you must use Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 2 to edit the website, as these are the most popular and up to date web browsers. The Published website is viewable on all browsers (based on the compatibility of your template), but may differ slightly from browser to browser. This is no different from any other website built outside of Webation Active.
8) Can people who are looking at my website see my changes as I am making them? No, when using Webation Active there are two copies of your website – the live website and the internal Webation Active website. You can make changes and update inside Webation Active – none of the changes are live until you Publish the website. In addition, changes are saved automatically (there is no save button), so you can make changes, Log Out and then log back in a week later, then make further changes and only when you click Publish is your live website changed.
9) Help! I have clicked a button and nothing seems to be happening. If you find that the toolbar becomes unresponsive, press “F5” on your keyboard (make sure that "F Lock" has been turned on the activate the F keys). This will refresh the page and display the page you were editing. If F5 doesn't do anything, try "Ctrl-R".
10) Can I replace images in the actual template? What other custom changes can I make to the template? You are able to change images embedded in the template, although some knowledge of HTML and CSS will be required. Through using the “custom CSS” area (found under the “Site Design” tab) you can change the images that make up your template.
The "images" folder for the templates are stored outside of Webation Active (they are not visible to you), so if you want to add more images, create a new folder on your desktop and fill it with the images you need. Then zip it and upload it into the "Userdata" folder in the "Template Upload" page (inside the "Site Design" tab). When writing the CSS use the following as an example of the file structure required when inserting URL’s:
Because you do not have access to the template's HTML, you can't upload a new stylesheet. But you can override the pre-made CSS using the "Custom CSS" page, it will add a file called "custom.css" (in the Template Upload section).
There are many things you can change and control by using CSS. You can see the current CSS styles that are used in the template by using “Firebug” extension for Firefox to examine the code – click on the "Preview the home page in a new window" on the Custom CSS page (inside the "Site Design" tab).
